Compete 4 CMV: GORUCK

Evelyn's Godfather, Dave Pearson, and friends Doug Otte and Jerry Jacobik, completed a 24 hour GORUCK Heavy: Mogadishu Mile competition this past weekend in NYC to raise funds for the National CMV Foundation.

They covered 46 miles from 9 PM Friday to 9 PM Saturday. 46 MILES. Not only did they have to lug around 40+ lb. packs throughout the duration, they were also asked to carry several unwieldy logs totaling ~1500 lbs and/or 1-7 team members in fireman carries. They began with 31 team members at Riverside Park and 74th Street, and ended at Battery Park with 23 team members. In between, they literally hustled around both Manhattan and Brooklyn, and into the Hudson River, Central Park pond and East River.

In Dave's words: "The 'Cadre' that led our team through the event were former special forces in the Navy and Army, who made sure we honored the military heroes from the Battle of Mogadishu -- Black Hawk Down. The GORUCK slogan is "Building Better Americans" and Doug, Jerry and I are all better men and Americans after participating."

John and I are so thankful for their participation in this event, and for their willingness to raise both money and awareness for cCMV. Congratulations!!
