Another sign Evelyn is her mother's daughter...she loves to travel. Maybe more accurately she tolerates travelling extremely well. This was again on display as we packed up the Tahoe with 3 people, 2 dogs and a bunch of luggage and made the 400 mile trek to Annapolis, MD to see Aunt Kate and Uncle Dan.
En route to Annapolis Evie sandwiched too strong naps around a noon feeding, shocking K & me since she was borderline inconsolable until about 5 minutes before we left. Something about travelling with us seems to calm her down. We hope this continues.
We spent 3 days and 2 great nights in Annapolis, which is an amazing city. Evie got a tour of the Naval Academy, although she slept thru 95% of it. We strolled up and down Main St, walked the perimeter of 'Ego Alley' and had a great lunch on the water. I have to say the highlight of the trip was dinner at Cantler's Riverside Inn where we indulged ourselves with Maryland's staple 'Blue Crabs'. The only discernible drawback to enjoying the blue crabs if you have an infant is that it's a time consuming process. Evie did great until about halfway thru dinner, then she started to fuss. Aunt Kate finished first and picked Evie up to calm her down...come to find out Evie was fussy b/c her diaper was not only full, it was over-flowing. It wasn't a complete disaster but it was close. Aunt Kate wore it, Evie's clothes were a mess to say the least, and she had even managed to get some on her face (we're still not sure how the hell that happened!!). No worries though, quick diaper change, anti-bacterial, hand wash, wrapped Evie up in Aunt Kate's cardigan and back to the crab. Funny how 4 months ago something like this may have caused a general loss of appetite but now, a minor 10 minute delay and back to crab cracking.
Our trip back was as easy as the trip down. Evie again impressed us with her ability to eat, sleep and generally stay calm during a 7 hour car ride. She is a great little travel partner and we are excited to keep taking her fun places with us.
I am so glad you had a great trip. I know Kate and Dan were really excited about your being there. I only wish we could have gotten to see Evie and both of you. You have an open invitation. Love to all, hopefully Avalon Sue not Cancer Diva???
